SID JACOBS QUARTET (LIVE) - Band on stage around 9pm, performing 2 live sets

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Sid Jacobs began his music journey in Miami Beach. After moving to Los Angeles he developed the curriculum for the Advanced Bebop and Jazz Guitar course at the world-famous Dick Grove School and the Musicians Institute (MI and GIT), where he continues to teach. From his early fascination with the guitar at the age of 7 to becoming the youngest faculty member at the University of Nevada, Jacobs has left an indelible mark on the jazz scene. Sid has performed with some of the all time greats of the jazz idiom including Brad Mehldau, Larry Goldings, Eddie Harris, Harold Land, Buddy Montgomery, Joe Diorio and Javon Jackson.

Joining Jacobs is TOM REMON a guitarist based in North London, whose musical roots trace back to Tomorrow’s Warriors. Tom recently releasing an impressive debut recording alongside UK jazz hero Jim Mullen. Adding to the ensemble is JAMES OWSTON, a well-known figure on the UK jazz scene. Influenced by bebop and jazz traditions, Owston’s bass expertise, drawing from legends like Ray Brown and Charles Mingus. Completing the lineup is JIM BASHFORD, a sought-after drummer and composer from Birmingham. A faculty member at the Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Course, Bashford’s rhythmic finesse and leadership shine through. Jim is one of the hardest-working drummers in the UK

“…translating the work of Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk into the language of the guitar is not easy but Jacobs did it with an easy fluency.” – Don Heckman, Los Angeles Times

Gordon Wedderburn (GW Jazz) Gordon Wedderburn is one half of the couple behind GW Jazz, a grassroots organization supporting Jazz, particularly emerging talent in London.   Gordon’s dj sets largely parlay the now and next generation of musicians and producers and bring Jazz, electronica, dub, world, neo soul, lo-fi, afrobeat, Brazilian and more together, combining their Jamaican livity and cosmopolitan London existence.
