SAM BARRELL JONES - Band on stage around 9pm, performing 2 live sets

Sam “Barrell” Jones is a South East London based drummer, producer and DJ. Hugely talented and effortlessly fluid in his approach and adaptability, he has become the go to drummer for some of the leading lights of his generation.

Best known for his work with Mercury Prize nominee saxophonist Nubya Garcia, Binker Golding and as Musical Director and drummer for Obongjayar, his credits also include Sons of Kemet, Joe Armon-Jones and Mala, Charlotte Dos Santos, Zara McFarlane, Yazmin Lacey, Oscar Jerome, Berwyn, Pa Salieu and more.

Sam is also leader of his own project, where he composes and arranges original music. He is a proud alumnus of the hugely influential Tomorrow’s Warriors and Aldeburgh Young Musicians programs. His approach draws from his London upbringing combining the sounds of Grime, UK Bass, Jazz, Reggae, Dub and more.

Sam brings a very special trio to perform at this month’s Future Jazz Now event!
