SMALL CLAIMS TRIO & HANNAH HOPKINS (LIVE) - Band on stage around 9pm, performing 2 Live Sets

Together, Hannah and the Small Claims Trio have been working on developing a unique soul and jazz song sound, influenced by artists ranging from Avishai Cohen to Erykah Badu. They look forward to debuting this live for the first time at the CLF Art Lounge.

The Small Claims Trio is a newcomer to the UK's musical landscape, established last year as a union of three kindred spirits. Having first played together at a jam, they're interested in pushing the limits of musical conversation and conveyance of feeling. They now have a large repertoire of original tunes and arrangements, without completely disregarding their roots in pure improvisation. Inspirations include Shai Maestro, Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, and Ari Hoenig.

Hannah is a singer and trumpet player. She's inspired by the soul, r&b and jazz sounds of London, where she grew up. She experiments with her voice as an instrument of expression and sentiment.

On bass is Matthew Reavley, who brings a fusion and prog perspective to jazz. On keys is Jossy Russell, who's interested in the modern London scene and also older jazz pianists such as McCoy Tyner. On drums is Tyler Farghly, who is a pure jazz expert and brings swing and space to every tune he plays. He's also an all-around great guy.

Grass Roots is a monthly live music affair which began life at The Vortex Jazz Club in March 2019 before briefly relocating to Notting Hill Arts Club in August 2021, now a resident monthly event at The CLF Art lounge
